Laboratory Accreditation Program
Continental’s quality management systems have been certified
as being compliant with the requirements of the National Environmental
Laboratory Accreditation Program. This certification is maintained
through the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (a
NELAP accrediting authority), and encompasses drinking water, wastewater,
solid, and hazardous waste analyses.
Drinking
Water Certification - Kansas Certificate No. E-10146
Continental Analytical Services, Inc. is certified by the
Kansas Department of Health and Environment for analysis of
primary and secondary drinking water parameters (except radiological)
utilizing EPA drinking water methods. Performance samples

U.S.
Army Corps of Engineers (USACE)
Effective in 2001, the USACE validation program changed from a separate and unique validation program conducted by the USACE to the USACE's acceptance of the NELAP accreditation program and corresponding acceptance of the WP and RCRA performance evaluation sample results as a measure of performance. To utilize Continental for a USACE project, the USACE Project Manager must request a self-declaration and support documentation from Continental.
The former USACE validation program provided for validation for analysis of hazardous waste analytes in multimedia samples. The validation was awarded following successful analysis of "real world" performance audit samples and after passing a comprehensive laboratory inspection.
Continental was originally validated by the USACE in 1991. Continental was certified for the analysis of explosives in liquid and solid media and for multi-media analyses of GC/MS volatiles, GC/MS semivolatiles, PAHs, pesticides, PCBs, herbicides, metals, TPH, TOC and all general laboratory parameters. Continental was also one of 12 laboratories nationwide that participated in the Methods Studies for explosives performed by the USACE.
